Valarea Companion App for Mobile

    Valarea Companion App

    Overview

The Valarea Companion App is a free download which enables users to Bring Their Own Meeting (BYOM) to the Valarea Room system.  Users can push their personal calendar and authenticate their personal cloud files so they can be used in their meetings.

The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, Apple Store or through the downloads page on Valarea.com.

    First Time Configuration

Once installed on your device, you must authenticate your calendar and (optionally) your cloud storage.

Connect your O365 account to transfer your Calendar and access your OneDrive files

Configure your Valarea App profile by adding your Office 365, Google Drive and.or Dropbox accounts.

By authenticating cloud storage within the App, users can access these files in Valarea Room with no requirement for pin or password.

    Note on Security

Valarea Room will only access a file when the user selects it.  Once the session ends, all files (including any temporary files) are deleted.

Valarea uses Bluetooth Proximity so if a user forgets to log out, it will automatically disconnect and perform a clean up when the mobile device goes out of range.  This feature is supported if the host PC has BT Low Energy built in.

    Connecting to Valarea Room

Open Valarea App on your mobile device, tap on 'Scan and Connected'.  Either scan the QR code or select it from the 'Discovered Pods' list.

Once connected, your personal calendar will be displayed on the Valarea Room system. You can switch between the Room Calendar and your personal calendar during your session.

You will also have access to the Room Calendar on your mobile device, so you can launch meetings from either Room or Personal Calendar from your phone.

If the meting room calendar has enough time before the next scheduled meeting, you can start an Instant Session, allowing you to have ad-hoc meetings using the Valarea Room.

    Trackpad Feature

When you start a session on the Valarea Room, your Valarea App transforms into a trackpad, allowing you to control the Valarea Room from your seat.  Navigate the on-screen menu, control audio and launch apps from your phone,

All these features are available for the free Companion App.  However, by subscribing to the full version of the App, users can access the powerful Valarea whiteboard canvas from their mobile device.

Remote Collaboration Through Canvas (subscription required)

Within the 'Woskspaces' menu on the app, you see a list of all the canvases you have created or been invited to by other Valarea users.

Select a canvas and you get a home screen where you can preview the canvas, see the text chat and previous recaps of the canvas.  If you are the owner of the canvas you can also invite other users to collaborate with you.

You can transfer the canvas to a Valarea Room or work on the canvas on your mobile device.

By opening the canvas, you have the same powerful tools you see within Valarea Room.

In addition, you can use the camera on your device to scan documents, take photos and videos, even capture AR images and bring them into your canvas.

With the canvas you can chat with users users, and start a video session using the built in WebRTC client.

These same functions are also available in the Windows 10 Valarea Client, giving you the power of the Companion App on your desktop PC.  This is explored further on a separate Knowledgebase article which can be found here.

The whiteboard canvas opens up a whole new way of working with remote teams.
